What's new?
Diet: Experimenting with fruit and overall more carbs again. Yes, even grains (gasp!). Starting with buckwheat for now. Boom, I am having more energy. I know, what a surprise (not). I got this sneaky little theory that low carb works best for men anyway, while women need more carbs (and fruit), or at least they do better on it. So many theories in my head, hehe. Do I go back high carb vegan now? NO. I try and go back to a diverse healthy diet (seems like the disordered eating is still having a hold on me, but looking on the internet, I don't seem to be the only one :D). Anyway, yesterday I went for a long hike in the sunshine and even did a bit of running in between. My last attempts of running were awful. I wasn't even eating super low carb but kinda low carbish with mainly some sweet potato as my source. (Maybe a real low carb aka ketogenic diet would be different energy-wise). So back on the bananas and I feel like a light switch has turned on again. Maybe that was the reason for my low libido as well. D'oh! I keep on making the same mistakes it seems. I wonder though if I should rather focus on starches than fruit sugar to keep blood sugar balanced. Experiment continues. The massive bloating slowly went down! So this could be due to: lauricidin suppositories, peppermint oil orally (suppositories in the making), cbd oil or diet changes (less vegetables, more fruit - you would expect the opposite though). Maybe it's a bit of all. Which leads me to the cbd oil. Not quite sure yet about the effects but it usually takes some time anyway (which is a bummer because I am always doing so many things at the same time so I never quite know what works and what not - keep on making the same mistakes). Was feeling more cheerful though lately. I am mainly the guinea pig because I want my grandmother to get on it for her severe arthritis pain. I am trying to learn more about the endocannabinoid system. I am one of those rare cases who never got high smoking weed. So there might be a genetic receptor thing going on. It could also be that it's shut down due to disease (toxins?). So with the cbd I am hoping to wake up my endocannabinoid system. Maybe it is similar to other psychedelic drugs like ayahuasca. My first ceremonies were pretty low key. It seems as if my body was so toxic that it takes a while to wake up those receptors. My last ceremonies anyway were beautiful with lots of visions so maybe I should try smoking weed sometime again ;) I am almost through my sample of the Mitosynergy copper. I am taking two extra strength in the morning with no notable side effects so I wonder if that is a good sign? Maybe I am not deficient in copper after all? But of course it has been just a couple of days. I would love to give it more time but it's quite a costly supplement, so I will have to reconsider that. So far it has changed nothing to the better though as far as I can see. Some people said it helped with cold hands for example. Nah, still ice cold. Well my thyroid is still sub optimal (no white moons on fingernails and I can see it's still a big enlarged. I continue my iodine intake). I found a private lab nearby that will test anything you want for pretty cheap so that will be my next step to test my zinc and copper levels, besides lots of other stuff. I know I am still zinc deficient as I am still showing signs (white spots on the nails, dandruff). For detox I make a yummy cilantro pesto the other day, now that we are having lots of organic cilantro. Been eating a bit daily. In my very toxic past this would have made me very sick but now I can handle it so that's a good sign. I mean, how much more do I need to detox? I am very very hopeful though for the Advanced TRS that should arrive soon. Again, expensive, but I read so many positive comments now about it. I will let you know! I am starting back on my morning ritual practise of affirmation, visualizing and gratitude. SO important. My meditations were a bit meh lately but I also didn't put that much effort into it. Maybe time to switch it up. I think that's it. :)

Aaaah, diet. One of my favorite and least favorite topics. What is the best way to eat.
As somebody who has struggled with eating disorders in the past, who had done junk food, vegetarian, vegan, raw vegan, paleo, autoimmune paleo diets, intermittent fasting, water fasting, high carb low fat, high fat low carb, fruitarian and what ever way of eating out there exists - you would think I would have figured out by now what works. I haven't. Here is the thing: I would LOVE if veganism works because yes I have compassion for animals. On the other hand I understand that pure veganism doesn't really work either for the agriculture. It is a symbiosis of plants and animals that create a nourishing food industry. YES we need the poop of the animals to fertilize our soils! Does that mean we also have to eat the animals? Well that is a different question, but if everybody now goes vegan and we need to produce even larger amounts of grains, maize, soy etc, that won't solve the environmental problem. So for the environment it doesn't matter if you are vegan if you are not eating local or tons of tofu etc. Health wise I do believe plant based diets are best. Plant based meaning a TON of vegetables. That is something I can agree on. When it comes to the rest, I am still a bit unsure. 100 % veganism seems unnecessary extreme. Why not include small amounts of animal products (as most longevity cultures actually do), just to make sure you get all those nutrients that are needed. Maybe you can get all of them on a vegan diet, but is there really an advantage of 100 % veganism? Then there is the question of high carb or low carb. Both have their followers claiming it works for them. I must admit there are two youtubers especially who seem to thrive on a 100 % vegan plant based high carb diet, Derek Simnett and Lilykoi Hawaii. These two look very healthy to me. But then again, youtubers. Lilykoi recently made an amazing video about the latest vegan youtuber Rawvana and Raw Alignment who stopped veganism due to health issues. Those claimed to thrive and feel healthy. Apparently they didn't. Good camera light and being skinny doesn't mean you are healthy. Whereas I must say I don't have the feeling Lilykoi or Derek are faking anything. They are well educated about nutrition, eat plenty of healthy calories and seem in good health. Though Lily did mention anxiety issues in one of her videos. So my question is, is well-planned veganism working for everybody? For example in the case of mercury toxicity? What about Pyroluria? Diet is such a confusing topic. For example, I have a friend with MS and she manages it brilliantly with diet and yoga and exercise. The diet she follows strictly avoids saturated fats and is more high in carbs. It works well for her and many others. Then there is Terry Wahls, an MD with MS who beat her disease with a more paleo style diet high in saturated fats and low in carbs. Who is right? Both of course. Does that mean Terry would do not so well on a high carb no saturated fats diet, and vice versa? Or does that mean that you can chose either or, and your body can work with both? You just can't mix both of them it seems. High carb and high fat doesn't seem to go so well. Then there is Alberto Villoldo who claims that the limbic brain (based on the Triune brain theory by Dr. MacLean) feeds on sugars and is responsible for the fight flight reactions etc. It seems outdated because humans have developed a newer part of the brain that thrives on fats and which is more connected to spirit etc. Makes sense too. We are no apes who just feed on fruit, we developed more capable brains and that is probably due to higher amounts of fats in our diets. But apparently the Triune Brain theory had been too overly simplistic. I need to go to work now (meh), so Part 2 will follow. Please feel free to comment though what you think is the best diet because I am really interested about other's opinions. |
